Discipline: No Quick Fix- I think the title says it all. Its difficult to focus on helping the one student that is disrupting the class (which is something I would attempt too) and giving the rest of the class paltry attention. I think handling discipline will vary from day to day...it may be easier to refer the discipline issue to some else on some days for the betterment of the whole and other days to be able to navigate handling the discipline within the classroom. I've experienced this personally and handled it in both ways, depending on the context of the situation.
Students use math to confront overcrowding- I liked that math was used in a "real-life" scenario to address an issue in their school because data doesn't lie and is difficult to ignore for those in a position to correct. I think finding ways to apply the methods being taught in class(e.g. math, science) to actual problems or experiments might garner more interest from the students than just word problems and hypothetical situations.
