Making Art Together 10-18

16. Hand puppet show - I like this idea because it's more than just the typical cloth puppets or regular puppets you can buy. The book suggests making puppets of all varieties, even suggesting cereal box puppets. It would be entertaining for the children, because not only would they be playing with them when they put on the puppet show, but they could take them home and play with them there as well. Students would also get a chance to potentially work on their writing skills if they wrote out a script. I like that it would really bring out their imaginative side, as most young children love imaginary games.

12. Designing a wall hanging - As far as collaborative pieces go, I believe this would be the easiest for students to work together on. It would give the students a chance to each bring their own style to the piece without disrupting the flow of the piece. It would also be a good idea, because it would include different mediums. Not every student excels at or enjoys painting or drawing, so those that don't will have the opportunity to work with collage as a medium.

10. Constructing a diorama - This was not my personal favorite idea for a collaborative project. Dioramas tend to be small in nature, so I feel this would make it hard for multiple students to work on at the same time. I like the idea of broadening their understanding and practice of mixing art and everyday reality, but I personally would not use this lesson.
