Twenty Dead Artists
George-Pierre Seurat
He was a Neo Impressionistic painter. I really love the technique he used to create images by pointillism.

| Self portrait 1889 |
It might be Cliche about me liking Van Gogh's work, but the truth is he is an awesome crazy painter who can create brush strokes that seem as though they are swirling within themselves. Plus who isn't into crazy painters?
Andy Warhol
I thought Andy Warhol did creative prints with his use of vibrant colors, and to make everyday things a work of art. I'm just not a fan of his assembly line.
Roy Litchenstien- he was another pop artists that I like. I like his re-representation of comic books
and the exaggerated gender roles played in his work. http://www.lichtensteinfoundation.org/frames.htm
Milton Avery- modernist painter that paints simple forms, but in its primitive way it's beautiful to me.
http://abstractartist.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/abstract-art-gallery13-28.jpg
Matsumura Goshun- I enjoy the calligraphy displayed in his art work, he kept the traditional Asian theme. I mostly enjoy the art that shows nature. I think his work is beautiful. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Hibiscus_and_blue_heron_on_a_tree-stump.jpg
Edvar Munch- painting The Scream, my mother had earrings of the screaming victim. I always admired them as a child. When I saw this painting it just reminds me of my mother instead of the image being disturbed. http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1330
Robert Mapplethorpe- he is very controversial but I admire how he explores the human body in different forms in photography. He is risky but he had guts to have poses that judges society.
http://www.mapplethorpe.org/portfolios/
Heath Ledger- he was one of my favorite male actors, he played a great joker. He can portray himself as a great comedian as well. I consider him a artist when it comes to playing different emotions.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01129/arts-graphics-2008_1129745a.jpg
Anthony Caro- was a british metal sculptor. He uses vibrant colors to portray moods, emotions and abstract forms to make some images. I learned more about him in Thomas Crow's book Rise of the 1960's. http://nimg.sulekha.com/others/original700/britain-sculpture-exhibition-2011-1-18-9-21-9.jpg
Skip Roach- a elderly cousin that died before I was born. My family has bits and pieces of his art work all around their houses. They are mostly abstract forms, but I admire his perseverance in his art making. I wish I got to meet him, I've been told he was a great guy that was loved by everyone who knew him. I have no copy of his work as well.
My Uncle Clarence- He carved leather designs for boots, wallets, belts, journals. From what I was told he did it for a hobby once he became disabled from type 2 diabetes. He made mostly floral decor in his designs, but some of them are very detailed. Unfortunately I do not have an image of my uncle's leather work.
Keith Harring- graffiti art, he created cartoon images that would pull in some political concept along with social problems such as HIV/ Aids. He died of Aids but has a foundation that helps others that are suffering the same disease. 6515df9725aa172e6280953c746757c8.jpg
Wassily Kandinsky- This artist is known as the father of abstraction. I like the kinetic essence he provides in his paintings. Some of my lesson plans are based on his paintings such as the Composition IV. People considered Jackson Pollock as taking action painting to another level, but I would have to differ since Kandinsky pretty much made his canvas as the "stage of his action".
kandinsky.comp-4.jpg
Edgar Degas- Learning about the impressionist movement was not appealing to me, but Edgar Degas figure paintings are beautiful to look at. However, my first glimpse of a replica of the Edgar Degas painting was at my grannies house. I had no idea his ballerinas were so popular on antique jewelry boxes. Two Dancers On The Stage 1874.jpg
Salvador Dali- As weird as he may have seem, his work is the reason why there are dream like qualities in art today. Everything is post- conceptual and he remained looked upon his work today.
Salvador-Dali-Walls-482530.jpeg
Georges Braque- He along with Pablo Picasso were the main cubists. I come to find that I like Georges Braque's cubist paintings better. I feel that his shapes are composed better than Picaso's; thats my opinion though. the-park-at-carrières-saint-denis-1909.jpg!Blog.jpg
Michaelangelo- of course I would pick him to be one of my favorites. He is highly influential when it comes to figure studies and perceptions of distances in drawings. His 3-d skills in sculpting are phenomenal as well. img1.jpg
Hieronymous Bosch- He is painter that focused on good vs evil aspects in his paintings. I like how modern looking his is when it was made in 1500's. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6d/The_Garden_of_Earthly_Delights_by_Bosch_High_Resolution.jpg/1280px-The_Garden_of_Earthly_Delights_by_Bosch_High_Resolution.jpg
Robert Frost- Did research over him during my poetry course. My favorite poems are The Road Not Taken and Fire and Ice

Georgia is definitely why I love to paint abstract versions of flowers. I like the way she blows up the inner part of the plants. Her and Leslie Lewis got me into Water Coloring. I heard of Georgia in my freshmen year of high school, she will remain to be my most influential artist. oriental-poppies.jpg
